Our work on sustainable food systems is on display every Saturday morning during the growing season at the Organic Farmers’ Market in Port Washington, where we are based. Founded and managed by Grassroots, it is the only 100% organic farmers’ market in New York State.  The market has become a popular place for local residents who enjoy getting to know the people who grow and harvest their food.

 

The market is anchored by two certified organic farms from the East End of Long Island: The Golden Earthworm Farm from Jamesport, and Orient Organics of Orient Point. Other vendors at the market include purveyors of fish, pasta, flowers, bread, olive oil, honey, gluten-free baked goods and other artisanal food and personal care items.

 

Especially popular with our market regulars are the freshly-baked organic blueberry muffins, goat cheese, and organic coffee.

If you’re near Port Washington any Saturday morning from the first week of June through the last week of October, we hope you’ll come and visit us.

 

The 2020 season will begin on Saturday, June 13th at 8 am and run until October 26th, pending the resolution of the current health crisis.
