Outreach and Social Media Director
TechSafe Schools
This is a part time, remote position requiring approximately 16 hours per week
Compensation $25 per hour
Report to: Executive and Associate Directors
Start date: Immediate
Responsibilities
The OSM Director is responsible for the national promotion of the TechSafe Schools program, raising awareness of the potential risk to children, teachers and staff posed by constant exposure to low levels of radiofrequency radiation from wireless devices. This project is based on established legal fiduciary principles and thousands of published, peer-reviewed studies, and is supported by a growing list of education professionals and health organizations. The primary activity of this position is to raise awareness of the issue and the availability of resources among parents, education professionals and the press, through social media and other communication channels, and to increase traffic to the TSS website and the downloading of available support materials.
Weekly Activities
Work with Directors to develop and place social media posts about the TSS program using elements derived from our materials (videos, brochures, studies, previous posts, etc.) as well as current news. Monitor social media for comments, questions and concerns, addressing each in a professional manner and routing specific inquiries to Directors as required. Contact bloggers, podcasters and websites with related interests and inform them about the TSS program, securing opportunities for speaking or placing written articles (not advertising).
Participate in weekly 30-minute staff check-in meeting.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated interest in environmental health and education
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience in social media platforms
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
