The ChildSafe School is an EPA award-winning program that provides a policy-based framework for reducing toxic environmental exposures common to many schools:


 Cleaning products contain petroleum-based chemicals that can exacerbate asthmatic symptoms and cause other health problems. Safe, effective and economical bio-based "green" cleaning products are good alternatives. Watch the video.

• Diesel exhaust from idling vehicles is a known carcinogen and has been to shown to cause asthma. The EPA says there is no safe level of exposure. “No-Idling” policies are a simple and effective solution. Watch the video.

• Turf pesticides have been linked to both acute and long-term health problems, including neurological and endocrine disruption as well as certain cancers. Natural or organic turf management can be easily implemented for school grounds and playing fields. Watch the video.
